  Slideshow Pictures

Beautiful sunny day. Left house around 1:30 p.m. heading for the Bank of Nova Scotia on Granville & Georgia to buy foreign currency. From the bank we went to Rick’s apartment, had drinks, and Rick drove us to the airport.

Raija & Ken came later to see us off. We don’t have a picture of them, but they looked just about as good as we look in this picture.

We went through the gates at 8:00 pm., boarded about 8:40, and took off at 9:00. Around this time Rita’s watch stopped. The airplane was a Lockheed 1011 operated by Air Transat. Food on the airplane was a boxed supper with beef, probably left over from 40-50 previous flights. Three movies were played during the trip. Watched one, can't remember what it was, so it couldn't have been very interesting. Our seats were off to the right side of the plane and we couldn’t really see the screen. Didn’t know at the time but the plane was only half full, so we could have moved to the back, where we would have had a better view of the screen, and would have been able to stretch out. I was uncomfortable with my long legs. The plane was very cold and the stewardess handed out blankets.
