Slideshow Pictures

Took the Helsingborg to Helsingor Ferry. No reservations required.

On the short ½ hour ferry ride, Rita and Rachel tried to clean out the duty free. Managed to get rid of all our Swedish kroners plus dipped into the Visa. Rita bought some top quality cologne, which turned out to be spray deodorant and some other goodies.

We arrived in Copenhagen about 2:45 p.m. Parked our car just outside the royal palace.

We went for a walk, took some pictures at the palace and found the hotel about a block away.

We went back for our car but then decided to look at the cathedral at the end of the road. Afterwards we drove the car to the Admiral hotel and checked in.

The suite was on the top floor of the hotel and had a loft with a bed. Rita and I slept in the loft while Rachel slept in the single bed downstairs. She ended up with the TV. The hotel was a converted old warehouse. They had saved the old beams which were running across the suite.

The view was overlooking the dock. The ferry from Copenhagen to Oslo was blocking our view but soon after left and we had a good view of the harbor.

After moving in, we went out to tour the city.

Found Nyhavn street located along the Nyhavn Canal. There were a multitude of restaurants with various kinds of menus. Sail boats were docked along the canal. Hundreds of people walking around; the outdoor restaurants were crowded, quite a lively scene.

I ran into a Hungarian couple from Toronto who were on their way to Budapest. We had dinner at one of the restaurants on Nyhavnand.

After dinner we started walking towards the famous Tivoli. On the street there was lots of entertainment, street artists, comedians, Peruvian musicians etc.

Rachel wanted a picture of a store window displaying a big closing out sale "Slut Spurt".

Ended up in Tivoli where Rachel had a snack of churros, raced horses and then insisted going on this hair raising ride, not only once but twice.

Rita’s heart was in her throat just watching her, praying that she came through alive. We were totally out of Danish kroners so we left. We saw more entertainment on the way to the hotel and off to bed we went totally exhausted.

We fell asleep immediately.

Monday 10 August 1998

Got up had breakfast in the hotel.

Went to the ferry dock, took some pictures. Rachel noticed some pretty orange cultured jelly fish in the water. Rita tried to capture these with the camera but the pictured didn’t turn out.

Went back to the hotel, checked out, $319 CAN. Then we were off to Hamburg. We crossed a couple of very long bridges on our way to Flensburg.
