On the way to Broby we stopped only at a gas station to fill up, bought
chocolate bars and a pop.
We arrived at Helmer’s and Hilkka's about 6:00 p.m. They had told us on
our first visit that we would have a krapu (crayfish) festival but they had
prepared a roast beef dinner instead. We were very hungry and it tasted
really good. They didn’t mention the krapu festival this time but we had
noticed that the dining room table was beautifully set up with all the krapu
paraphernalia with krapu table cloths, napkins hats, etc.
Shortly after dinner their daughters with their families arrived and the
krapu festival was on. It was quite an event.
The rules were; for every krapu eaten, the adults, except for Hamze, had to have a shot of snaps.
But
as the evening progressed we changed the rules, to have a shot with every
claw. The enjoyment on their faces eating the krapus was amazing to see. Even
the 1 year old Simon seemed to enjoy every mouthful.
Rachel impressed everyone with the expertise she showed in extracting the
meat from the krapu and placing the krapus on the plate looking like they
hadn’t even been touched. Even the sounds of enjoyment were amazing,
similar to the sound of water in a sink at the end of draining.
After dinner we changed the rules again and just had the snapps. We
talked, and drank until 1:30 a.m. and then we went to bed.
